Allow clients to change the executable file

I have a few people that use custom modpacks in minecraft.  Often they want to try something new and would have to get a hold of me to change the configuration.  Can you make it possible for certain "elevated" clients to have the option to change the executable file?  This feature could be something that you turn on and off depending on client.

Re: Allow clients to change the executable file

You want to change the executable start file(Ex:server.sh) or the config(Ex:server.cfg) of the server?

Re: Allow clients to change the executable file

I want the user to be able to change the executable in the server profile.

Re: Allow clients to change the executable file

Well what can be done is using the cfgs in the admin panel I guess, so you will have to wait for the dev or somebody to release the code that will give access for users to change the cfg's

Re: Allow clients to change the executable file

As I said on Twitter, we can't do this, for security reasons. You must workaround it with cfgs etc.

EDIT : allowing client editing CFGs will help, I'm on it smile

Yes that was the idea so the admin can allow the user to change a custom cfg like {cfg_start} that will be replacing the start shell so the administration will be at fault for creating the security risk. ( I mean he will need to trust his client I guess ) .
Oh and I think only "0-9A-Za-z_" should be only allowed in the cfg's (from users side) so they don't go out of their directory and start doing stuff.

Re: Allow clients to change the executable file

Even then, make an option that allows only certain users to have customizable cfgs
